For the past 16 years, Nick Sager has been working closely with the Activity Therapy team to enrich the lives of On Lok PACE participants through creative engagement, social connection, and person-centered therapeutic activities— all while honoring cultural traditions and individual preferences.
In his role as Activity Therapy Clinical Specialist, Nick oversees the development, implementation, and continual improvement of On Lok PACE's Activity Therapy programs across the Bay Area. He leads lifelong learning opportunities, staff development initiatives, team-building efforts, and quality improvement projects that elevate the field of therapeutic activities.
Nick has spearheaded several initiatives, including the Dance Movement program, the Participant Satisfaction Survey for Activities, and strategic partnerships with organizations such as Art with Elders; TimeSlips, an evidence-based approach to creative engagement; and StoryCorps, which captures and preserves the voices and experiences of older adults. He has also collaborated with leading academic institutions, including the University of San Francisco; the University of California, San Francisco; and University of the Pacific to advance research and best practices in creative aging and therapeutic engagement. Additionally, he has represented On Lok both locally and internationally, advocating for the healing power of creativity in elder care.
Nick holds a master's degree in transpersonal counseling psychology with a concentration in music therapy. In addition to being an accomplished musician, he finds joy in surfing, traveling, gardening, cooking, and spending quality time with his family.
