Biography

John Blazek joined On Lok in 2016 as Chief Development Officer, bringing more than 20 years of nonprofit executive leadership dedicated to service and improving lives. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, John drives strategic initiatives that expand and innovate services to meet the growing needs of the aging population. He oversees cross-functional teams, manages budgets, and ensures the successful execution of organizational goals.

In his role, John leads On Lok’s philanthropy and development efforts, guiding the Development Team to grow the donor base and secure funding for vital community programs and services. His work is rooted in a deep commitment to advancing On Lok’s mission and creating meaningful impact for older adults and their families.

Prior to On Lok, John served as President of the Greater Illinois Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and as National Vice President of Individual Giving. The New York-based nonprofit supports leading international research and serves more people with MS than any other organization in the world.

Earlier in his career, John held development roles at Northwestern University School of Law and served on the advisory board of the University’s Center on Wrongful Conviction.

John holds a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law, a master’s in theology from the University of Saint Mary of the Lake, and a bachelor’s degree in history from Marquette University.
