A Message of Resilience During These Troubled Times
The shocking death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, culminating a wave of racially motivated incidents in the news lately, reminds us that racism continues to destroy lives and divide our communities. Like the coronavirus that has turned our world upside down, it is a disease that threatens all of us and that we can only defeat together.
After a highly charged weekend of protests in our neighborhoods and across the nation, we feel the impact of current events deep in our hearts and conscience, on top of the anguish caused by COVID-19 and the challenges of sheltering in place. We share in the grief, anger and fear people are experiencing. We are worried for the health of our elders, and for the future of our children. Many of us feel even more compelled to act against social injustice.
We feel the struggle to cope with these emotions. But, as a healthcare organization deeply rooted in the community, we are strong and united behind our mission to relentlessly pursue quality of life and quality of care for older adults and their families. We work to make a positive difference in the lives of all our seniors, their loved ones, staff, and neighbors, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
When we live our core values of compassion, inclusion, resourcefulness and excellence, our work will continue to have even greater impact on our communities and our world. And although what lies ahead may feel uncertain, we are ready to learn more about ourselves and start new conversations about how we can all work together to help build a better society.
Thank you for supporting our community and our mutual endeavor.
