The Friends of On Lok was founded in 1987 to help support On Lok, inc.’s fundraising needs and community outreach efforts. Since then, the all-volunteer organization has raised almost $2 million for On Lok, inc.’s programs.
Community, commitment and care are common values linking Friends of On Lok members. Together the 160 members organize major fundraising events, volunteer for special projects at On Lok’s centers, or bring special treats to On Lok’s seniors. As ambassadors in the community, the Friends of On Lok provide an invaluable resource to On Lok, inc.’s mission of serving elders in their own neighborhoods.
Membership in Friends of On Lok offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the care of San Francisco’s elderly. Women and men of all ages are welcome.
Members pay annual dues and are encouraged to become involved in committees and projects. Member events include quarterly meetings, membership teas and special presentations and workshops.
